the birth of vontra
My passion for watchmaking began earnestly in the heart of Melbourne, Australia, during my university years. As a young undergraduate student, I was in need of a watch that could serve me well in any scenario, while still being reasonably within my means. For the longest time I searched, but every new watch I purchased fell short in striking the right balance between what I wanted, and what I was willing to spend. As I ventured deeper into the world of Horology, I discovered the art of watch modification which allowed me to finally craft nearly any style of timepiece with my own two hands. I could now finally have the watch of my dreams, designed and built exactly the way I wanted. I was in love.
Shortly after returning to my home of Malaysia, I decided to take a leap of faith by leaving my steady 9 to 5 in order to pursue my passion in the art of watchmaking. Thus, Vontra Watches was born! From the very beginning, my mission has been to bridge the gap between luxury and affordability. Honouring the beauty of classic aesthetics while sharing the joys of creating a truly custom built to order timepiece that is unique to its owner. There is no greater pleasure in life for me than in collaborating with others, and seeing them experience the absolutely incredible journey in crafting the watch of their dreams.
